Soundwave boss AJ Maddah is taking aim at The Madden Brothers in a no-holds-barred shellacking on Twitter. The ongoing rant began yesterday after Maddah posted a tweet promoting Music Feeds’ petition to ‘Get The Madden Brothers Out Of Australia‘.
Maddah’s anti-Madden stance rubbed numerous fans the wrong way, which led to Maddah explaining himself in not uncertain terms. Maddah characterised Joel and Benji Madden as “money-grubbing cunts with zero principles and disdain for their fans.”
Eventually, AJ’s taunts solicited a response from Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, who tweeted, “i don’t mind you hating on us but Encouraging other people to hate us? Keep talking shit brother it suits you”.
Madden’s post has since been removed (a screenshot is included below) but Maddah took the opportunity to address Joel directly. Maddah posted more inflammatory tweets, alleging Joel once mocked a young female fan for being overweight and questioning the ethics of being a former PETA spokesperson now advertising KFC.
The conflict between Maddah and the Madden Brothers dates back to when Good Charlotte headlined Soundwave Festival in 2004, which at the time was known as Gravity Soundwave. Apparently the dealings with Good Charlotte left a bitter taste in Maddah’s mouth, prompting him to tweet in response to a fan’s request for Good Charlotte’s return last August, “If Good Charlotte ever play SW again it’ll mean I’ve quit the festival and killed myself out of shame.”

Joel Madden has called AJ Maddah to put the matter to bed. After speaking to each other for what Maddah says is “the first time in 10 years”, Joel tweeted that he “respected” Maddah and Soundwave and was glad to squash the bad blood.
