Alt-J Drop Surprise Australian Tour Dates

Acclaimed UK trio alt-J have just announced a pair of surprise Australian shows for October 2014, in support of their upcoming second album, This Is All Yours, due to be released in Australia on Friday, 19th September.

Alt-J will play two shows, one on the 6th of October at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre and another at Sydney’s Enmore on the 7th October. The band were recently announced on the lineups for Falls Festival and Southbound and were not expected to be in the country until later in 2014.

Alt-J’s Gus Unger-Hamilton confirmed the news on triple j this afternoon and also talked about the band’s new single Every Other Freckle. “Lyrically, it’s a pretty ambitious song that features some memorable lines like ‘Me, I’m in bin’ and ‘I want to turn you inside out and lick you like a crisp packet’,” he told The Doctor.

“I love that line,” he added. “Joe wrote that lyric. I think it’s a good old-fashioned love song. A collection of images that describe being obsessed with somebody. There’s all kinds of nice little sorts of images in there.”

Joining alt-J at both shows is 24-year-old Perth artist Grace. She has spent recent months recording with producers Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Sam Spiegel (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and Dann Hume (Alpine) on her upcoming release. See ticket details below.
