André 3000 Would Cast Leonardo DiCaprio In An Outkast Biopic

If an Outkast movie was ever to happen, André 3000 has some casting suggestions and after a recent screening of the upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is By My Side, André 3000 revealed his unconventional picks for who would play himself and Big Boi in the hypothetical film.

“It would be great to make an Outkast movie right now, but instead of really serious, make it a full comedy — like Kevin Hart would play Big Boi,” he said at the screening as reported by Rolling Stone. As for himself, “We should cast somebody stupid — like Leonardo [DiCaprio],” he added.

While it seems unlikely, currently, that we’ll be able to witness DiCaprio and Hart duke it out as Three-Stacks and Big Boi on the silver screen, André said that if an Outkast film were to be made, it should capture the balance in the group.

“One of the biggest things that kills me is when people try to put Big Boi down,” he said. “The chemistry that made Outkast was the balance. And honestly, Big’s a much sharper rapper than I am. If I was going to a battle, I’d definitely bet on him instead of me.”

If his recent outings are anything to go by, Leo DiCaprio would surely be down for the challenge. He was spotted last week in Los Angeles gaving his best Phife Dawg impersonation by rapping the first verse of A Tribe Called Quest’s 1992 classic Scenario. That coupled with his capoeira-like dance moves would surely be proof enough that he could authentically capture André’s onstage charisma.

André 3000’s Hendrix biopic, Jimi: All Is By My Side, is due to be released in the US this week but does not yet have an Australian release date. Outkast were recently in Australia, performing at Splendour in the Grass as a part of their lengthy reunion tour.

They’ll finish up the tour later this month with a trio of hometown shows in Atlanta, and according to Billboard they have recruited some very special guests. Reported guest acts include, Janelle Monáe, Solange, 2 Chainz, Childish Gambino, Kid Cudi plus Killer Mike, 8Ball and MJG.
