Angel Haze Beats Label, Gets Early Release For Leaked Album

After news broke this morning that US rapper Angel Haze gave the proverbial middle finger to her record label and leaked her debut album online via Twitter, Island/Republic Records have caved in and bumped up the album’s release date by three months. Dirty Gold will now be released on 30 December in the U.S. and UK.

“My labels didn’t think that I would do it, but I did. It’s hard to put at risk everything I’ve spent this year working on but I had to,” Haze wrote on twitter as she announced her victory. “For both me and you guys. No one should ever be afforded the opportunity to fuck with your dreams. REGARDLESS OF WHO THEY ARE.”

Upon leaking the album yesterday the rapper took to twitter to vent outrage against her record company, who she claimed were holding back the album’s release against her will. Tweeting of her dedication to fans and the label’s decision to delay Haze wrote, “they will get the music they were promised. And you guys JUST MAY LEARN TO KEEP YOUR FUCKING WORD.” The tracks were removed from SoundCloud within an hour of being posted.

But Haze ultimately won her battle with the label and just hours after her initial twitter firestorm, she took to the site once more to announce Dirty Gold‘s new official release date and to thank fans for their support. “Just want to say thank you guys for your support today. Thanks to those who heard the album and fucked with it. Thanks to everyone who stood up for me,” tweeted the rapper. “They do not own you or your faith or your future and because of what you guys helped me show them.”

No word yet as to an Australian release date by Angel Haze says she’s got our back.
