American singer-songwriter Angel Olsen has joined her Laneway Festival 2015 colleagues and has announced that she will perform with her band at two intimate headline sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney next February.
In addition to her Laneway Festival performance, the St. Louis-born indie folk rock musician will take the stage at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Tuesday, 3rd February and then will move to Melbourne’s Howler on Wednesday, 4th February.
Olsen will grace Australian stages armed with songs from her recently released and highly acclaimed second album Burn Your Fire For No Witness. The record follows up her self-released debut EP, Strange Cacti, and her first full-length album Half Way Home.
Having worked as a back-up singer for many years, Olsen recently told Music Feeds her latest record explores new vocal territory. “On the second album it was right after I’d worked with a band and I found I could use my voice in totally different ways. I needed to take what I’d learnt as a vocalist, as somebody who was in the background, and apply it to what I was doing.”
