Watch Angus & Julia Stone’s Brooding ‘A Heartbreak’ Music Video

After being sorely missed for so long, Angus & Julia Stone have returned with more momentum than ever, which they’ve now channeled into their new music video for A Heartbreak. The brooding clip, directed by frequent A&JS collaborator Jessie Hill, premiered yesterday at the NY Times.

“That was one of the first songs we wrote together,” said Julia of the duo’s new single. “I remember this friend of mine took me to meet his middle-aged parents, and they were lying on the floor when I got to the house, rolling around like kids in love. That’s where we got the first line of the song.”

As for the video, which features some beautifully-shot party scenes, Julia explained to the New York Times, “The director went around to clubs and bars in LA and approached young adults and said, ‘Do you want to come to a video shoot?’ We had to put on a proper show because all these kids showed up. Everyone was drinking. It ended up being a really fun night. The kids really got into it.”

But as Julia told Music Feeds in May, the fun times were almost not to be. “We had no intention of getting back together,” she said. “At all. We really felt that we’d done our time together and it was time for a change. We both felt really inspired to be apart and have that space, it was really fun.”

But thanks to super-producer Rick Rubin, who helmed production on the duo’s new album, Death Defying Acts, and who called the Aussie duo “authentic and pure people who do things from the heart,” fans can now fall in love with Angus & Julia Stone all over again. Pre-order Death Defying Acts via iTunes now and you’ll get A Heartbreak delivered directly to you as an instant download.
