Apple set to finally kill off iTunes

RIP Apple iTunes (2001-2019).

After months of speculation about the future of iTunes, Apple looks set to pull the plug.

As Bloomberg reports, Apple will reveal a series of changes to its core software platforms and hardware at its developer conference next week.

Among moves towards devices and software that are less dependent on one another, Apple also plans to put an end to iTunes.

iTunes will be replaced with a trio of new apps: Music, TV and Podcasts.

Customers will still be able to manage their Apple gadgets, through the Music app.

iTunes had undoubtedly fallen from grace over the years, having been a revolutionary part of the Apple ecosystem for so many years, and its death will probably be welcomed by many users frustrated with its recent versions.

Cya iTunes, its been fun.

UPDATE: It’s official. Apple is shutting down iTunes.
