Aqua Australian Tour March 2012

90’s Danish pop sensations Aqua are set to literally Turn Back Time when they tour Australia in March.

Following hot on the heels of fellow re-formed Europop stars The Vengaboys – who begin their Australian tour next week – the band will play six shows including dates in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Fremantle.

The original line-up is also still intact – consisting of vocalists Lene Nystrøm and René Dif, keyboard player Søren Rasted and guitarist Claus Norreen.

Best known for their infamous 1997 hit Barbie Girl – Aqua sold 33 million albums and singles worldwide and were also responsible for the equally-as-memorable hits Doctor Jones, Lollipop (Candyman) and Cartoon Heroes.

The band split in 2001, before regrouping in 2007 for the release of their greatest hits compilation. Last year they released a new album, Megalomania, and the interestingly-titled single Playmate to Jesus.

Zoom around YouTube and you’ll notice their sound has also altered dramatically – with their trademark bubblegum pop ditched for electro and dance. Other new track title names include How R U Doin, Kill Myself, Dirty Little Pop Song and If The World Didn’t Suck (We Would All Fall Off).

Tickets to all shows go on sale 9am Monday through the venues and
