ATP’s Release The Bats Festival Downsizes Venue

Organisers behind All Tomorrow’s Parties‘ second festival for 2013, Release The Bats, have announced that the event will no longer be taking place at Westgate Centre, Altona, and in fact will no longer be taking place at any one venue.

Instead, the event has been moved to St Kilda and split in half, with the Main Stage now located at the Palais Theatre and Second Stage at Prince Bandroom.

It appears the decision has been made after ticket sales for the Saturday, 26th October event fell short of expectations. Despite being spread over two venues, the event will now have a small ticket allocation than previously, meaning that there are now even fewer tickets left on the market.

Those currently holding onto tickets for Altona will still be able to attend the show at the new locations. All ticket holders can expect an email in their inbox shortly detailing how the changes will affect the day.

Entering the final leg of promo before showtime, Release The Bats has now hit a few snags. Prior to this announced, ATP announced that key feature The Jesus Lizard would no longer be performing. At that time, it was announced that a new band would be announced as a replacement, but that has not happened as yet.

Still, the event boasts a remarkable lineup featuring the only Victorian performances from The Breeders and Television, with The Scientists and Fuck Buttons also performing.

Tickets to the 18+ event can be found via the official ATP website. Full statement from organisers below.

“Today ATP must announce that our forthcoming Release The Bats show which was due to take place in Altona is moving to the Palais Theatre (as Main Stage) and Prince Bandroom (as Second Stage), two venues located just a short walk from each other in St Kilda. Due to the current ticket sales trajectory we are faced with moving the event to these venues to ensure the event can take place. All currently booked tickets will be valid for new location and based on the smaller capacity of the new location we now only have a very small amount of tickets left before the event is sold out. All ticketholders will be emailed soon with more info about the event including wristbanding.”
