After overwhelming support for their non-album holiday anthem covers that August Burns Red have released here and there over the past few years, the band have decided it’s time to do the album. Detailing plans of Sleddin’ Hill, A Holiday Album, August Burns Red will be reinterpreting classics with their well-honed Metalcore taste.
Including seasonal favourites such as Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Sleddin’ Hill is surely going to be the heaviest Christmas carol release of the year. The last release from the band was 2011’s Leveler, and members saw a cover album as the perfect way to bridge Leveler with their next proper album.
Speaking of the release, lead guitarist JB Brubaker stated, “The idea of doing a full Christmas album has been floating around in the ABR camp for a few years now, but what always held us back was finding the time and energy to write an additional full-length in between touring and writing our regular records, After finishing [2011’s] Leveler, I finally felt inspired enough to tackle the Christmas album idea.”
The most recent Christmas single released from the band Carol of the Bells, was met with massive support, even landing the band on an episode of American Dad. And while some might see this as a gimick release, ABR have built a reputation as one of the most instrumentally technical bands in the genre, and are sure to reinterpret the tunes with integrity and their metalcore prowess. “There is a lot of substance in these songs – more than you’d find in your typical cover.” JB finished.
