Four of Australia’s most talented, most hairy muso dudes have bonded over their love for two classic Beatles albums. Husky Gawenda (Husky), Jordie Lane, Marlon Williams and Fergus Lincare (Kingswood) will perform Rubber Soul and Revolver live back-to-back in a series of world first shows in Australia this winter.
The logically titled Rubber Soul Revolver Tour, from the people who brought you the wildly popular and similarly themed White Album shows, will head around capital cities this July and August in a world-first performance of the entire tracklist of the 1965 albums, in chronological order.
Widely regarded as a huge musical turning point for the band that changed the world, Rubber Soul and Revolver saw the Liverpudlians rebel against the musical conventions of the time and heralded their “metamorphosis from teeny-bopper band to pop super craftsmen”.
Featuring classic Beatles tracks such as Yellow Submarine, I’m Looking Through You, Good Day Sunshine and the sitar-filled Love You To and She Said, the two LPs are regarded as some of the group’s finest, most game-changing tracks.
Led by musical director Paul Gray, the four Aussies, known for their already impressive careers in rock, folk, indie and alt-country, will present the Beatles tracks with “state of the art sound production and no gimmicks – just the music”. We’re being promised 17 musicians and singers will be along for the ride.
