Australian Musician And Social Media Phenom Lil Bo Weep Dead At 22

Winona Green, better known under the alias Lil Bo Weep, has passed away just two months after her 22nd birthday. Green’s father, Matthew Schofield Green, confirmed his daughter’s death in a Facebook post on Sunday, 6th March.

“This weekend we lost the fight for my daughter’s life against depression, trauma, PTSD and drug addiction that we have been fighting since we got her back from America through emergency repatriation DFAT but broken,” he wrote.

Lil Bo Weep returned to Australia from the USA in February 2021. She was living in Adelaide, the city of her birth. As Schofield Green wrote, Lil Bo Weep was born on 2nd January, 2000, and passed away on Saturday, 5th March, 2022.

“She fought hard against her demons as we all did side by side next to her and picking up the broken pieces over and over again but she could not fight any more and we lost her,” Schofield Green said.

Lil Bo Weep’s cause of death has not been made public, but days before her death the artist posted an emotional video to Instagram revealing it had been one year since she’d lost a daughter.

“I would like to do something in remembrance of her, preferably spread some flowers at a beach and spend the day just mourning,” she said. “I’d really appreciate if anyone in Adelaide would be kind enough to do that for me and with me so please reach out, thank you.”

Lil Bo Weep’s most popular song, ‘not ok but its ok’, came out in 2017. It has been streamed more than 12 million times on Spotify and half a million times on Soundcloud. Alice Glass was among Lil Bo Weep’s supporters and posted a tribute to her on Twitter.

“Rip Lil Bo Weep,” Glass wrote. “First heard ‘i wrote this song 4 you’ and loved your music immediately. I’m so sorry you suffered i wish this Angel was still here and never met anyone that would hurt you.”
