Barack And Michelle Obama Sign Podcast Deal With Spotify, Launch Podcast Platform

Your fave power couple Barack and Michelle Obama have signed an exclusive deal with music streaming giant, Spotify and are launching a podcast platform.

They’ve already inked a multi-year agreement with Netflix but now the Obamas are breaking into the podcast world. They’ll be producing podcasts under Higher Ground Audio, a branch of their newly-minted media company Higher Ground which will also produce feature films and series.

As Billboard reports, Barack Obama said in a statement, “We’ve always believed in the value of entertaining, thought-provoking conversation.”

“It helps us build connections with each other and open ourselves up to new ideas. We’re excited about Higher Ground Audio because podcasts offer an extraordinary opportunity to foster productive dialogue, make people smile and make people think, and, hopefully, bring us all a little closer together.”

We don’t know when Spotify plans to kick this off, nor what kind of poddies the Obamas will be making, but Michelle Obama says they’re thrilled to have an opportunity to amplify voices that are often ignored or silenced with Spotify.

“Through Spotify, we can share those stories with the world,” she said. “Our hope is that through compelling, inspirational storytelling, Higher Ground Audio will not only produce engaging podcasts, but help people connect emotionally and open up their minds — and their hearts.”
