Big Day Out 2014 Lineup Lands Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire & Blur

The 2014 Big Day Out line up is finally here, with Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire, Blur, Snoop Dogg and Major Lazer topping an absolutely massive first announcement. BDO have pulled out all the stops this year, with international heavyweights Steve Angello, The Lumineers and Grouplove joining the likes of local heroes Flume and Tame Impala on the 2014 roster.

The first 32 names for BDO 2014 have now been revealed, with a wide range of acts including Dillon Francis, Mac Miller, Portugal. The Man, Flosstradamus and Toro Y Moi set to join next year’s headliners. We can expect to see more names dropped in the coming months.

As always, Big Day Out have attempted to cater to all musical tastes, and though a slight leaning towards grunge – Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Cosmic Psychos – and new wave psych rock – Tame Impala, Portugal. The Man, Bo Ningen – is clearly evident, hip hop, metal and Boiler Room fans are sure to be happy.

The venues for Big Day Out 2014 have now also been confirmed. Sydney is once again heading to the Sydney Showgrounds, Melbourne makes its way back to Flemington Racecourse, Perth will host BDO at Claremont Showgrounds and Adelaide’s proposed new venue of Bonython Park has been locked in once and for all.

Since it was revealed Big Day Out Sydney would once again host two days of festival fun this summer, it was expected that next year’s BDO lineup would be one for the history books. Music lovers nationwide have been champing at the bit for any news regarding the festival, no doubt whipped into a frenzy by the festival’s own proclamation that this would be the “Big Day Out lineup to end all Big Day Out lineups”.

Earlier in the week, Herald Sun reporter Nui Te Koha published details about the festival, including information on headliners Blur, Arcade Fire and Snoop Dogg. Big Day Out CEO Adam Zammit refuted the claims via Twitter, saying Te Koha could not be trusted, but the information has tonight been proven correct.

And just this evening, Portland’s Portugal. The Man confirmed their appearance on the 2014 iteration of the touring festival via Facebook.

Big Day Out tickets this year have been priced at $185 + bf, a $20 increase on last year, but with a lineup like this the price bump is more than worth it. Presales kick off tomorrow, Thursday, 1st August, with general release tickets available soon after. Full details are below.
