Big Day Out Adds Beady Eye, Deftones & The Hives To Replace Blur On 2014 Lineup

After weeks of speculation, wild rumours and countless twitter exchanges with AJ Maddah, Big Day Out took to triple j to officially reveal that Beady Eye, Deftones and The Hives will be the new bands replacing Blur on the BDO 2014 lineup, after the Britpoppers announced they were pulling out of the festival a few weeks back.

Maddah has been keeping punters on their toes over the past week, first claiming the announcement would be made Friday 29th November, then pushing it to this Tuesday, then last night, after some contract deadline issues with one of the bands, he told one fan via twitter to “have an early night.”

DO BEADY EYE, DEFTONES AND THE HIVES = BLUR?

Maddah had suggested that there may be as many as four bands added to the bill, claiming that he was going to add another two regardless of Blur pulling out of the festival or not. Since the news of Blur’s cancellation, BDO officials have been careful to emphasise their intentions to maintain the value of the ticket. Maddah tweeting, “Who said it was 4 bands for the ‘price of 1′?”
