BIGSOUND Festival Announces First Acts On 2017 Lineup

Beloved Brisbane music conference and festival BIGSOUND has unveiled the first 64 acts to be confirmed for its 2017 shindig.

Heading to Brissie’s Fortitude Valley in September will be the likes of Winston Surfshirt, Joyride, Alex The Astronaut, Polaris, Mansionair and Ruby Fields, as well as returning BIGSOUND acts Hockey Dad, Mama Kin and The Creases.

There are also a few international acts, including the UK’s Spashh and New Zealand’s Bespin heading along for the ride. Catch the full first list of acts spanning a whole bunch of different genres below, and the first list of speakers right here.

This year’s BIGSOUND acts are all eligible to win part of this year’s massive $100,000 Levi’s Music Prize, and will have the chance to follow in the footsteps of BIGSOUND alumni like Flume, Courtney Barnett, Tash Sultana and Gang Of Youths.

“Once again we’ve been spoiled for choice when it comes to the range of new and exciting talent being showcased at BIGSOUND,” says BIGSOUND Programmer Maggie Collins. “I know these acts will follow in the footsteps of those that have come before them and achieve the international recognition that they deserve.”

BIGSOUND 2016 saw over 7,000 check out rising Aussie musos at various venues around town, while also watching speeches from industry experts and networking their asses off.

BIGSOUND 2017 will take place between Tuesday, 5th September and Friday, 8th September in Fortitude Valley. Peep the full first lineup announcement below, alongside ticket details.
