It’s been more than a year since Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba joined Blink-182 but it looks like they’ve finally locked-in a single to unleash upon the world.
A representative for the band confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the first single off the album will arrive in April. The band’s first album without founding member Tom DeLonge will also be their first since 2011’s Neighbourhoods.
While we don’t have a name for the single or album, there have been a few details about the album leaking out in recent weeks.
Earlier this month drummer Travis Barker revealed that the album was finished. He told Punkrockvideos.com, “It’s just a matter of picking out what 12 to 14 songs are going to be on the album… everyone right now is pushing for their favourites”.
As for what it will sound like with Skiba on board, music director of Los Angeles station KROQ Lisa Worden has apparently heard some of the new material and told radio.com that Mark Hoppus is the lead-vocalist with Skiba providing support.
“It sounds like Blink but it’s not anything that we’ve heard before,” she said.
“For fans of the band, they’re going to be super happy with it. It starts with Travis’ unmistakable drumming—it’s just that signature Blink sound—you immediately know who it is.”
The band have also uploaded a number of Instagram posts with cheeky snippets of new music.
