Bruce Springsteen Covers Bee Gees’ ‘Stayin’ Alive’ In Brisbane

Since kicking off his Australian tour in Perth with a rendition of AC/DC’s Highway to Hell, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band have been delighting Aussie crowds with their Bossified tributes to legendary Australian groups. The most recent, a cover of the Bee Gees‘ 1977 classic, Stayin’ Alive.

Naturally, The Boss does the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack cut in a way no one’s ever heard it before, strumming an acoustic guitar while the E Street Band provide sharp horn arrangements, a blazing Tom Morello guitar solo, and an orchestra provides a lush string accompaniment.

As Rolling Stone reports, Springsteen’s final Australian show was a marathon-length event totalling about four hours and in addition to the Bee Gees nod, included another performance of Highway to Hell, accompanied by friend Eddie Vedder, who’d previously joined The Boss in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, Springsteen’s Sydney run opened with a cover of The Easybeats’ 1966 hit Friday on My Mind and featured a performance of INXS’ Don’t Change. The Boss’ most recent studio effort, High Hopes, featured a rendition of Australian veterans The Saints’ Just Like Fire Would.
