Eddie Vedder Joins Bruce Springsteen In Melbourne

Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band‘s current Australian tour has already yielded plenty of highlights, including a cover of AC/DC‘s Highway to Hell, but fans in Melbourne were given an even bigger treat after Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder joined Springsteen on stage for two songs.

Last week, fans at the Perth Arena let out a storm of cheers when The Boss’ show opened with the iconic opening chords of AC/DC’s Australian hard rock classic, a tribute to the late Bon Scott. The Boss went on to open his encore at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre with the cover.

Last night’s performance at AAMI Park likewise opened with Highway to Hell, accompanied by the unexpected presence of the Pearl Jam frontman, who stuck around for a performance of Springsteen’s 1978 classic, Darkness on the Edge of Town, from the album of the same name.

Springsteen and his band then ran through a few more classic tunes, including Darkness… cut Badlands and Hungry Heart, as well as new tracks High Hopes and a cover of The SaintsJust Like Fire Would, before performing the band’s landmark 1984 album Born in the U.S.A. in its entirety.
