Cee-Lo Green To Play Raekwon’s Dad In Biopic

In an intriguing move, Cee-Lo Green is to play the father of Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon in an upcoming biopic of the latter’s life.

According to Pitchfork, both have found time within their busy schedules to nail down the project, which was confirmed by Raekwon in an interview with XXL, where he said that the movie’s script was on the verge of being completed, and that over half of the film’s actors had been cast.

He said of Cee-Lo’s involvement, “He’s a good friend of mine … When I called him and told him about it he was just overwhelmed. He’s just one out of the greats that’s gonna be on the project.”

The role of Raekwon himself, however, has yet to be decided on, although Chuck Inglish of Cool Kids was at one point reported to be in the running.

The Wu-Tang Clan are in Australia this week for massively anticipated shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Cee-Lo, meanwhile, remains busy on a new Goodie Mob album, as well as remaining a judge on American TV show The Voice.

He said of the upcoming movie on Twitter, “News flash: I CEELO GREEN will be playing the “FATHER” OF RAEKWON THE CHEF in his new biography on his life! NOW THAT’S HIP-HOP for ya!”
