Looks Like Childish Gambino’s ‘Guava Island’ Will Be Streamed On YouTube This Weekend

Finally, the time is here. The hype around Childish Gambino‘s mysterious Guava Island project has been buzzing for months now, and it looks like we’ll finally get it this weekend via YouTube.

According to multiple news outlets like Pitchfork and Vulture, an official YT press release stated that ‘Guava Island’ feat. Rihanna would be streamed via YouTube during the 1st weekend of Coachella, which is this coming weekend.

While the date isn’t exactly known, ads have been appearing on Spotify saying that Guava Island will be released in some capacity on Saturday, 13th April. That comes the day after Childish Gambino’s headlining set at Coachella, which falls on Friday, 12th April.

However, what provides a little bit of conflict to this is that Indiewire reports the statement in the press release where it mentions the film has since been removed. This could, however, just be to keep an air of mystery about the project which is par for the course for Gambino – This Is America did drop completely out of nowhere, after all.

Whatever happens, it seems likely that we’ll have Guava Island – whatever it is – before Gambino heads back to Aus to headline Splendour In The Grass.
