After a dazzling performance at Splendour In The Grass, CHVRCHES are returning to Australia for the second time in 2018.
It’s no news that they’re locked in for Falls 2018/2019 but apparently, that’s not all. They’ve just announced a one-off Sydney performance. And if you’re only going to drop into town for a single sideshow, why not make it the Sydney Opera House?
Gracing the iconic venue for the first time, CHVRCHES will perform Monday January 7, 2019.
“CHVRCHES’ towering cathedral of sound finally takes over the Sydney Opera House this summer and it’s a thrill to welcome this powerful band inside,” shares Ben Marshall, Head of Contemporary Music at the Opera House. “Come experience CHVRCHES at the peak of their live powers in the room they were made to play.”
The performance is promised to be ‘no holds barred’. Given the recent controversy surrounding the use of the Oprah House as ‘Sydney’s biggest billboard’, this may have the makings of a very interesting night.
Fronted by Lauren Mayberry, the Scottish outfit have amassed a sizable Australian following since 2013’s Bones of What You Believe. In 2015 they followed on with the well-received Every Open Eye and released third album Love Is Dead in May this year.
