Coachella Share Archival Footage From The White Stripes’ 2003 Performance

Coachella have shared some archival footage of The White Stripes’ live set at the festival back in 2003, which appears briefly in the festival’s recently-released Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert documentary. ”

The video sees Jack and Meg White bashing out White Blood Cells favourite ‘Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground’, and goes a way in demonstrating what an incredible live act the pair were back in the day. Perhaps most notably, it’s pretty hi-res considering the time period – 17 years ago, Jesus fucking Christ – one of few videos that captures the Stripes with such clarity. A tiny little gift for you,” the festival tweeted earlier today, slyly referencing the 2001 song’s lyrics.

This year’s Coachella has, naturally, been postponed along with everything else due to the coronavirus pandemic. Originally scheduled to take place this month, the festival has been pushed back to October. When this year’s lineup was originally announced, it included the likes of Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean.
