The Cosmic Psychos are bringing their quintessential Australian drawl and pounding punk rock back to the touring circuit, with the Melbourne trio hitting the road to coincide with the release of Blokes You Can Trust, a new doco about Australia’s most colourful cultural ambassadors.
The Psychos formed in Melbourne in 1982 and somehow fell into the Seattle scene of the late ’80s, signing with Sub Pop. They counted Nirvana amongst their fans and they played shows with Pearl Jam. Blokes You Can Trust looks at The Cosmic Psychos’ adventures down the rock ‘n’ roll highway and examines the story of frontman and unlikely rock star Ross Knight, a musician, world champion weightlifter, farmer with a bulldozer fetish and dedicated father. The film travels from downtown Kyneton in rural Victoria to some of New York’s finest S&M parlours and features appearances from Eddie Vedder, Mudhoney, The Melvins, Butch Vig, Hard-Ons and L7.
The Psychos will be playing their first shows in yonks in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane to commemorate the occasion, with the tour kicking off on the 9th August. 30 years on, they’re as crazy as ever, but we’ll just have to wait and see if they still come with the warning “Never drink with the Psychos”.
Blokes You Can Trust is released in cinemas nationally on 8th August and tickets for all shows are on sale now from cosmicpsychos.com.au.
