Country Miscreant Morgan Wallen Wants To Work With Kendrick Lamar

Tennessee country singer Morgan Wallen has been a constant presence on the US pop and country charts since releasing his debut album, If I Know Me, in April 2018. But Wallen has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past couple of years.

Wallen’s second album, Dangerous: The Double Album, landed in January 2021, preceded by the singles ‘More Than My Hometown’ and ‘7 Summers’. After ‘7 Summers’ reached the top ten, Wallen was booked to perform on NBC’s Saturday Night Live on 10th October, 2020But NBC rescinded the invitation after footage emerged of Wallen partying in Alabama the weekend prior, thereby contravening NBC’s COVID-safe protocols.

This indiscretion pales in comparison to Wallen’s next public blunder, which occurred just a couple of weeks after the release of DangerousTMZ published footage of Wallen and friends arriving home after a big night out in Nashville. As he walks towards his front door, Wallen can be heard yelling, “take care of this pussy-ass motherfucker,’ before adjusting it to “take care of this pussy-ass n****.”

Wallen lost plenty of corporate endorsements for his use of the N-word, but fans seemed to approve and his sales soared in the aftermath. Then, late-last month, Wallen made a surprise appearance on ‘Broadway Girls’, the latest single from Chicago drill artist Lil Durk. The song currently sits at number one on the Billboard hip hop chart.

Following the Lil Durk collab, Wallen spoke to internet comedian Druski on Clubhouse. Variety reports that Wallen spoke at length about his love of hip hop and even named his dream collaborators: Moneybagg Yo and Kendrick Lamar.
