Dave Grohl Announced As SXSW Keynote Speaker For 2013

One of the most famous and relevant musicians to date, Dave Grohl, has been announced as the 2013 keynote speaker for Austin, Texas’ famous festive South by South West. The festival, which takes over an entire town, has scored the legendary Nirvana sticksman and Foo Fighters frontman to share his wealth of knowledge with critics, musicians and fans alike.

After the Foo Fighters announced their break some weeks ago, Grohl has had a bit of time on his hands. Drumming on the new Queens of the Stone Age’s album, collaborating with Neil Young, and finishing up his Sound City documentary, it seems that this keynote speech is just one for the chalk board.

The topic of his address will be revealed when he delivers his speech on March 14 next year. Last year’s keynote was delivered by legendary American rocker Bruce Springsteen, in which he told the crowd to never “take yourselves too seriously”. Although it may seem like lighthearted advice, the keynote initiative has taken off, with Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah giving one yesterday, in which he confessed that he still hasn’t created his “perfect festival”.
