Dave Grohl Hints Nirvana’s 2014 Reunion Concert Footage Could Eventually Be Released

Written by Emmy Mack on July 3, 2018

As legend has it, the night of Nirvana‘s 2014 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame saw OG band members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear play a surprise reunion show at a Brooklyn dive bar.

According to Noisey, the band took the stage at Saint Vitus for a secret invite-only show at around 2:30am and proceeded to bust out an epic 16-song set comprised entirely of Nirvana classics.

As with their Rock Hall performance, the trio were accompanied by a cavalcade of guest singers filling in for late legend Kurt Cobain, including St. Vincent’s Annie Clark, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis, and Deer Tick’s John McCauley (probs would have been past Lorde’s bed time back then).

The band also happened to film the whole thing, and now, drummer Dave Grohl has hinted that the footage could be released.

“When we realised that we were going to do it, I just called the people from my production company and said, ‘We need to film this’, and we loaded some cameras in there and and shot it without knowing what would ever come of it,” the Foo Fighter tells Rolling Stone.

“But it would be a shame for that evening to be only a memory and and we’ve got it. And it was fucking great. It was cathartic and everybody involved, I think, understood that they were part of something like a dream.

“I remember playing and looking and seeing Carrie Brownstein in the front row in the pit singing along to every song and, you know, getting to play drums behind Joan Jett or, god, playing ‘School’ or fucking ‘Pennyroyal Tea’ with J Mascis,” Grohl continues.

“It really was amazing. It was something else. Someday, I’m sure everybody’ll see it.”

Now plz Dave?

While we wait, you can catch some of the fan-shot footage of the secret show below.
