Deftones Officially Announce New Album ‘Gore’, Drop Tasty Teaser

A few days ago Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter let slip that Deftones new album would be coming 8th April, and now we have official confirmation and an album name.

The Californian band’s eighth album is called Gore and will in fact be released on 8th April 2016. The announcement has been accompanied by a painfully short 30 second teaser of the album which gives away very little, apart from that it will probably be slamming.

Gore is the band’s first album since 2012’s Koi No Yokan and while we missed the opportunity to see them in Australia this year after the cancellation of Soundwave, the band have announced a bunch of international dates giving us hope that they will return here soon on their touring cycle.

They’re set to play a bunch of festivals including Shaky Knees in the US, Rock Am Ring in Germany and Download Festival in the UK.

There’s no tracklist yet, but frontman Chino Moreno offered a few hints during an interview in March of last year. “I think it’s a little more of a heady record. I feel like we’ve gone into the songs and really dissected them,” he said. “If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven’t done in the past.”

The album is tipped to have 16 tracks produced by their long-time producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children Of Bodom, Monster Magnet). Moreno has also revealed that Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell will feature on the record.

No word on when to expect a full track from the record yet but here’s hoping that it’s very soon. That teaser is too tasty to wait until April for new material.
