UPDATE: Demi Lovato Issues First Public Statement Since Apparent Overdose

ORIGINAL STORY: Singer-songwriter Demi Lovato remains in hospital but is reportedly suffering from complications related to an apparent overdose she suffered last week.

TMZ reports that sources with knowledge of the situation say Lovato is “suffering extreme nausea and a high fever, among other things”, and remains at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

One source said, “She is under the care of medical experts and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Lovato was allegedly found unconscious in her home on Tuesday, and was revived using Narcan — an emergency medication used to reverse the effects of a narcotic overdose.

While TMZ reported the overdose was heroin-related, a source close to Lovato told PEOPLE that it was not heroin-related. A number of music stars like Ariana Grande and Kesha also sent their love to Lovato on social media.

Lovato has suffered from substance abuse, disordered eating and mental illness in the past, and was treated for bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm and addiction after entering treatment in 2010.

In June 2017, she released a new song called ‘Sober’, on which she revealed she had relapsed after six years of sobriety.
