DMX Reportedly On Life Support & In A ‘Vegetative State’ Following Heart Attack

Rapper DMX is reportedly on life support and in a ‘vegetative state’ after suffering a heart attack over the weekend.

As reported by Buzzfeed, the 50-year-old rapper’s longtime manager, Nakia Walker, gave an update on his condition following his hospitalisation after a drug overdose.

“He’s still in the same condition — in a vegetative state, [with] lung and brain failure and no brain activity,” she said.

“We’re just praying and waiting. Praying and waiting.”

NBC reported that DMX was first hospitalised on Good Friday in New York. He had to be resuscitated before being placed on life support in an Intensive Care Unit.

Speaking to The New York Times, DMX’s lawyer, Murray Richman, spoke about the rapper’s character and what he chose to express through his music.

“He is truly an amazing person,” Richman said.

“He walked into a room, he lit up the room. He couldn’t help making you feel good in his presence.”

“He expressed the pain and suffering in a very unique way,” he continued. “He truly is reflective of a whole segment of our society whose pain and suffering go unrecorded.”

A slew of celebrities, like Eminem, SZA, Missy Elliot and more, are sharing their thoughts, prayers and tributes to DMX on social media. Have a look at some of the tributes below.
