UPDATE: Download Festival Australia 2019 Lineup Announced
ORIGINAL STORY: Get in losers, we’re going moshing! Download Festival has just unveiled the first sweet details of its second Australian event and, as promised, it’s expanding to Sydney.
Download 2019 will be a two-date affair, hitting Sydney’s Parramatta Park on Saturday, 9th March and Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse on Monday, 11th March (during a long weekend).
According to a press statement, we can also expect next year’s lineup to drop “imminently”.
“We promise it’s a corker!” organisers pledge.
Download Festival made its Australian debut in Melbourne earlier this year, with headlining performances from Korn, Limp Bizkit and Prophets Of Rage, so we’re pretty intrigued to see what the festival has in store for its second bang.
ICYMI, demonic metallers Ghost recently told Music Feeds they were planning on heading to Australia next March… coincidence??
Download organisers have also previously suggested there are plans to eventually expand Download Festival into a “nationally touring event”, but it will only hit Sydney and Melbourne next year.
In his review of Download Melbourne 2018, Music Feeds contributor Brenton Harris described the event as “one of most enjoyable one-day festivals” he’s attended.
“Everything sounded, looked and felt great, and the crowd responded by being an absolute blast to be amongst,” he said.
Police praised the behaviour of this year’s Download Melbourne crowd, despite a number of arrests.
We’ll keep you looped with any updates for next year’s event! For now, catch the official Download 2019 dates below.
