In what is pretty much guaranteed to result in some insane shenanigans, Australian punk icons Cosmic Psychos and new kids on the punk block Dune Rats are heading out on a combined national tour, set to rip up stages across the country this June.
It’s been a whirlwind few year for the Psychos, known at home and across the globe for their ear drum-busting punk rock sets, and the trail of beer bottles they leave behind them. Two years on from the release of the documentary Blokes You Can Trust – which featured interviews with the likes of Butch Vig and Eddie Vedder, testifying to their Cosmic Psychos fandom – the Aussie veterans are back with a brand-new album.
Cum The Raw Prawn is the band’s first new record in six years and was recorded on Ross Knight’s farm in January this year. According to a statement, the album features “beer-soaked, bulldozer-fuelled pub anthems” and promises to be as “unapologetic as ever”. Listen to its first cut, Better, Not Bitter, below.
Brisbane punks Dune Rats have also had a jam-packed year. After a successful debut album release in Australia, the band have toured relentlessly at home and abroad and just found themselves a spot on the massive Splendour 2015 lineup. First though, they’re heading out on tour with punk rock royalty.
Get ready, this is going to get crazy.
