UPDATE: Ed Sheeran has now announced three new and final shows for his upcoming Australian tour, in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, while releasing more tickets in Brisbane. Details below.
ORIGINAL STORY: After hundreds of thousands of Ed Sheeran fans tried to get tickets to his upcoming Aussie tour in a pre-sale yesterday, the singer-songwriter has now added three new shows to keep up with demand.
With pre-sale tickets already being flogged for $1,000 online before the rest of the tickets go on sale to the general public next week, touring company Frontier Touring has announced new Sheeran shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to cope with they’re calling “overwhelming demand”.
Melbourne now has three Sheeran shows lined up for next year, while Sydney and Brisbane both have two.
The announcement of new shows also means that Sheeran now shares the record for the most stadium shows on a single Australian and New Zealand tour, which is currently held by AC/DC’s 2010 tour.
“I’m overwhelmed with the response, to match that record is very humbling. I really can’t wait to get down there,” Sheeran says.
Sheeran’s upcoming Aussie tour now consists of nine stadium shows, and you can catch all the dates and ticket details, below.
