P!NK, Justin Timberlake, Ed Sheeran, Metallica. None of these megastar acts could defeat Elton John for money earnt from touring in 2019 so far.
Pollstar’s mid-year report has John at the top of the pile with $82.6 million USD from his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Tour’ from the beginning of the year to now.
P!NK ($81.8 million), Justin Timberlake ($75.5 million), Metallica ($69.7 million) and Fleetwood Mac ($67.7 million) rounded out the top five highest grossing touring acts.
The hype around Elton John has no doubt been boosted by the release of biopic Rocketman which according to Box Office Mojo has grossed over $166 million USD worldwide to date.
The chances of John ending the year at #1 seem pretty good too, with plenty of shows to go in 2019 including Aussie dates which start in November and run all the way through to February 2020.
