The release is a huge jam, despite the crazy juxtaposition between Elton John’s classic vocals and the electronic sound from Gorillaz, interspersed with 6LACK’s lines.
It’s a super textured, interesting track. There’s a lot going on but throughout the chaos of all those competing elements, John’s vocals and piano add a real sense of stability to the new single.
Also Elton John in the Gorillaz universe is the cutest.
“I’ve always been a Gorillaz fan so when Damon reached out and asked me to get involved it was a no-brainer. The way the song turned out is just great,” said John.
The @Gorillaz track I worked on is out tomorrow! I’ve always been a Gorillaz fan so when Damon reached out and asked me to get involved it was a no-brainer. The way the song turned out is just great – I can’t wait for you to hear ithttps://t.co/NK05tiGFeR pic.twitter.com/v0pXmz3rHn

You can have a listen to it down below.
The release comes as the seventh instalment of Song Machine Season One. Song Machine is a project by the Gorillaz where they spontaneously share these absolutely insane collabs.
So far, they’ve teamed up with Octavian, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Tame Impala, and Joy Division’s Peter Hook.
