Devastating news today, as ARIA nominated singer-songwriter Emily Wurramara has revealed that her home in Brisbane caught fire and she has “literally lost everything.”
She took to Instagram to explain the tragic situation, and how thankfully her, her daughter, mother and brother made it out okay. However, they’ve also lost a lot of possessions, including Emily’s instruments and irreplaceable belongings of her grandparents.
“This morning there was a fire at my home on Vulture Street on West End,” she said.
“My family and I have literally lost everything. We practically have to start from scratch.”
“There were heaps of valuable things of my grandparents that we can’t replace,” she wrote.
“But I am so grateful and thankful that everyone in the building got out safe and no one got hurt. Sending love and light to you and hope you have a beautiful day.”
Wurramara also said that her manager has started up a Facebook page so you can donate to help Wurramara and her family get back on her feet. You can donate here.
Wurramara’s debut album Milyakburra was released last year, and was nominated for an ARIA for ‘Best Blues & Roots Album.’
