Unfortunately Fortunately it’s not a Lady Gaga cover, but Love Game, the latest track to be revealed from Eminem‘s upcoming record, MMLP2 (The Marshall Mathers LP 2) is a bit of an oddball, with the collaboration between The Real Slim Shady and Kendrick Lamar anything but the dark and gritty number we were expecting.
Love Game samples The Game Of Love, Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders‘ 1965 track, combining a ’60s surf vibe with Em and Kendrick’s fast-paced wordsmithery, leaving you with a rather schizophrenic cut that isn’t quite sure what it wants to be. Maybe it’ll grow on us but for now, the Music Feeds jury is still out on whether Love Game works or not.
The sneak peeks of MMLP2 are coming hard and fast ahead of its Aussie release date next week, with Em’s Rihanna duet, The Monster, making its debut online earlier in the week. Eminem is heading to Australia in February to headline his own hip hop festival, Rapture, scheduled to hit Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
