Ervin McKinness Dies In Car Crash After Tweeting He Was Drink Driving

Aspiring rapper Ervin McKinness tweeted that he was drink driving behind the wheel moments before his death on September 2.

NME and The Huffington Post reports that McKinness, 21, posted that he was driving drunk at 120 miles per hour, just minutes before he and four passengers died in a single car crash.

He wrote on his account: “Drunk af going 120 drifting corners #FuckIt YOLO.”

Another tweet posted by McKinness talked about drinking and driving, adding: “Driving tweeting sipping the cup fuck yolo I’m turning it up.”

“YOLO” is an acronym for “you only live once”, a phrase made popular by Drake, who used it in his song The Motto.

McKinness died when the 2005 Nissan Sentra he was reportedly driving went through a red light, lost control and slammed into a wall in downtown Ontario, Canada, in the early hours of the morning.

Despite McKinness’ tweets, confusion surrounds whether he was actually driving the vehicle.

Police reported that Watson may have actually been driving and not the rapper. Since the crash, McKinness’ sister also defended her brother as having been a passenger and not the driver that night.

McKinness had signed a record deal, and an official video for his song Dreams was published on his YouTube channel, InkyyTV, in April.
