Evanescence’s Amy Lee Drops A Stunning Cover Of Portishead’s ‘It’s A Fire’

Amy Lee, the frontwoman of soon-to-be-out-of-hiatus US rock band Evanescence, has released a cover of the Portishead classic It’s A Fire, and it’s actually god damn stunning.

Lee’s It’s A Fire cover (below) sees the singer laying her suitably silky vocals over layers of piano and strings, before rising to belt out the song’s most expressive lines.

Since releasing her It’s A Fire cover, Lee has taken to Facebook to say the song was “a huge inspiration” during her formative years.

“I listened to the song recently for the first time in a long time, and fell in love with it all over again,” Lee says.

“The lyrics are so powerful, they helped me through so much. It is my honor to do this little homemade homage to a group I have loved so much for so long.”

Lee recently launched her own YouTube channel as Evanescence prepare to end their three-year hiatus with three US shows ahead of their appearance at Japan’s Ozzfest in November.

Evanescence last performed together in November 2012, and announced the departure of their longtime guitarist Terry Balsamo in August this year. His position has been filled by German singer and guitarist Jen Majura.
