The Most Expensive Record Ever Sold Has Been Revealed

Guinness World Records’ 2017 has crowned the most expensive record ever sold with a pressing of The Beatles White Album taking the prize.

As Factmag point out, the record was sold in December last year for a very steep $912,000 (£522,438).

It’s obviously not your standard pressing of White Album. It’s a first edition copy with the category number 0000001 printed on it. Even more impressively, it was actually kept by drummer Ringo Starr in a vault for over 35 years meaning it’s in pristine condition.

Various items were sold off by Starr at the auction where the record was sold with all proceeds going to Lotus Foundation which aims to advance social welfare.

The Beatles have dethroned an Elvis Presley record which was previously the most expensive ever sold going for a very respectable $305,000.

The Beatles’ White Album was released way back in 1968 and was their ninth studio album, unveiled a year after Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
