Falls Festival 2013 Lineup Adds More Acts

Just when you thought it was safe to start making playlists for your road trips to Lorne, Byron Bay or Marion Bay, Falls Festival has announced a stack of new artists for their 2013-14 lineup, including Canada’s Born Ruffians and a stack of local talent including Dappled Cities, Wolf & Cub, Smith Street Band, Touch Sensitive, Clairy Brown & The Bangin’ Rackettes…and “Australia’s top one-legged saw player”. Yeah.

Born Ruffians will be heading along to Lorne and Byron only and they’re keen to show you just how great their new album Birthmarks is, touring Australia as a 4-piece for the very first time. The band announced their own headlining tour this time last week, so we suppose you should consider them Falls sideshows.

There’s a strong contingent of electronic acts added to Lorne. As well as the aforementioned Touch Sensitive there’s Wave Racer, Willow Beats, Twinsy, Tyler Touche, M4sonic, plus everyone’s favourite AVJ Ego. And as for that one-legged saw player, you’re just gonna have to check out the Perch Creek Family Jugband to see what the fuck is up there.

Byron’s gonna see some extra Roots love by way of a ?uestlove DJ set, plus they get the exclusive additions of Cub Sport, Lunatics On Pogosticks and Potato Potato, the lucky things.

As an update to the Boogie Nights portion of the program, Falls have announce that the Hot 8 Brass Band are no longer able to tour due to illness, so they’ve been replaced by none other than 9-piece soul group Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes. I think we can live with that. Boogie Nights has its fancy dress thing going again and the theme for this year is Intergalactic.

Today’s news also comes with the announcement of the comedy component of the festival, which features in all three locations. This year down-in-the-mouth punters will be chuckled up by Amos Gill, Dave Callan, David Quirk, Michael Hing, Nath Valvo and Ronny Chieng.
