Fat As Butter Festival Cancelled For 2014

Organisers of Newcastle’s Fat As Butter Festival have announced the event will not be going ahead this year.

The announcement was made via a statement posted on the event’s social media pages, confirming that due to their inability to confirm a worthy lineup, for the first time in seven years the October event will not go ahead.

“Despite 6 months of scouring the world we just haven’t been able to land a line up that we reckon you guys would come and play with,” reads the post. “It was a decision we agonised over, but sometimes the fickle gods of the almighty line up just don’t co operate!”

Headlining acts at the last two successful festivals in 2012 and 2013 included Mickey Avalon, and Booka Shade as well as Yellowcard, Wheatus and Mystery Jets. The festival was rocked financially though when rapper Flo Rida dodged a $400,000 lawsuit plus $20,000 in legal fees when the the organisers sued him for failing turn up for his 2011 set.

The event’s promoter Mothership Music Pty Ltd subsequently went into liquidation. In their statement today Fat As Butter organisers were quick to say that they plan on resurrecting the festival in 2015, cryptically adding that they may announce “something else to fill the musical void” in the meantime.

Dear FABSTERS,

Brace yourselves for some rotten news. Unfortunately there’ll be no 2014 edition of Fat As Butter – major BUMMER. Despite 6 months of scouring the world we just haven’t been able to land a line up that we reckon you guys would come and play with. We’re obviously all disappointed that for the first time in 7 years we wont be partying on the Foreshore. It was a decision we agonised over, but sometimes the fickle gods of the almighty line up just don’t co operate!

We’ll miss you all this year, but we’ll definitely be back in 2015 with a smashing show. Stay tuned in the meantime – we might just have something else to fill the musical void.

Love,
FAB Headquaters.
