Flume has uploaded a new six-minute video to his YouTube channel, which is a comedic sketch of he and JPEGMAFIA going back and forth on a new beat. The video is animated by James Bladgen, and has already racked up nearly half a million views at the time of writing. JPEGMAFIA teases the Australian producer throughout, saying that he’ll “have to hit up Fred again..” instead of him and saying that Flume “must have eaten [his] Vegemite this morning” when he starts to like the beat.
In a statement shared in his fan newsletter, the American rapper notes that the audio stems from sessions that the pair undertook together circa 2023, prior to him beginning work on Scaring The Hoes – his collaborative LP with Danny Brown from that same year. “While our musical paths have since diverged, and this track doesn’t reflect where I am creatively in 2025 and beyond, I’m always proud of the music Flume and I make together,” he wrote. “Maybe one day soon, we’ll release the rest of it. Who knows — we live in a society.”
Flume & JPEGMAFIA – ‘Track 1’
Peggy’s parting remark – a long-running internet meme based on the mannerisms of the Joker – is, curiously, a phrase that Flume has also adapted when sharing the teasers on his Instagram page. The link in his page bio takes you to weliveinasociety.info, which is a blank website save for a link to the video and a space for fans to leave their email address to “sign up for more”.
Flume and JPEGMAFIA had previously collaborated together on the track ‘How To Build A Relationship’, which featured on his 2019 mixtape Hi This Is Flume. Since then, both artists have released solo albums – Palaces for Flume in 2022, and both LP! (2021) and I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU (2024) for Peggy. The former has also released two mixtapes, both in 2023: Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Plan and Arrived Anxious, Left Bored. JPEGMAFIA, meanwhile, has released two solo EPs and the aforementioned Scaring The Hoes LP – the latter of which he has also teased following up on his own social media account. The rapper also toured Australia in March 2025, playing his own headlining shows as well as performing at this year’s Yours & Owls.
