Flume’s ‘Never Be Like You’ Has Hit Over One Billion Streams

Written by Jackson Langford on October 9, 2019

The entire country has Flume fever at the moment, with him just finishing his collection of homecoming headline sets at Listen Out festival, and it turns out he’s hit a major Australian milestone as well.

His 2016 track, the Kai-featuring ‘Never Be Like You’, has become just the third track by an Aussie artist to hit over a billion streams globally.

It’s a super exclusive club, known as the APRA AMCOS 1,000,000,000 list, and the first artist to make it was Nat Dunn who wrote the inescapable Marshmello and Anne-Marie banger ‘Friends’.

“Flume’s songwriting and production has had a huge influence on how music sounds, and his success has opened the doors for his fellow Australian music creator,” APRA AMCOS Chief Executive Dean Ormston said.

“Through his songs, he has connected to fans all over the world and we congratulate Harley on achieving a position on The 1,000,000,000 List.”

“I’m honoured to have found out the song hit one billion streams a few weeks ago,” Flume said of the milestone.

“We’re lucky to have such a supportive local industry and it’s so great seeing Australian songs continue to do well overseas. Thanks, APRA AMCOS.”
