Foo Fighters have cancelled an upcoming charity concert at Auckland Town Hall after a truck carrying essential band equipment was involved in “a serious accident” whilst travelling from Christchurch to Auckland. The truck driver is expected to recover.
According to a statement from promoters Frontier Touring, the band’s “specialised equipment” was so badly damaged that it cannot be used, forcing them to cancel the charity appearance scheduled to take place on Friday 20th February.
Replacement equipment is being flown from Los Angeles to Auckland and the band expect their Saturday concert at Mt Smart in Auckland to go ahead as scheduled. Foo Fighters and the promoter Frontier have expressed their thoughts for crew member, wishing them a full recovery.
Anyone who purchased tickets for the Friday show at Auckland’s Town Hall will receive a full refund. The credit card used to purchase tickets will be refunded automatically by Ticketmaster. After their Auckland show, Foo Fighters will travel to Brisbane to begin their run of Australian tour dates.
Foo Fighters kicked off their run of New Zealand and Australian shows this week in Christchurch, with a killer two-and-a-half hour set playing 22 songs, 10 albums and two stages. They also unveiled a number of classic rock covers.
