Former ‘Australian Idol’ Winner Kate DeAraugo To Plead Guilty To Drugs & Weapons Charges

Former Australian Idol winner Kate DeAraugo intends to plead guilty to drug driving, possessing ice, breaching bail and possessing a knife and a tomahawk, a court has been told.

The singer, who is facing possible jail time after allegedly being found in possession of ice twice within five days earlier this year, apologised outside Bendigo Magistrates Court today, as News Corp Australia reports.

31-year-old DeAraugo, who won Australian Idol back in 2005, reportedly didn’t say anything during today’s hearing, but told reporters outside court, “Of course, I’m sorry.”

Police have alleged that the singer was caught with .43 grams of ice on 10th June, before being caught with a large quantity of ice, a large knife and a tomahawk just five days later. She was also allegedly found to be driving with drugs in her system.

A drug trafficking charge was withdrawn in court today.

DeAraugo is still out on bail, and is expected to reappear in Bendigo Magistrates Court on 15th November.

DeAraugo released her debut album A Place I’ve Never Been shortly after winning Idol, and her latest single ‘Shut Your Mouth’ in 2015.

Her fellow Idol and Young Divas member Paulini is also currently facing jail time after admitting to bribing a government official.
