Fred again.. has shocked Australian fans by announcing a last-minute show in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, set to take place tonight (February 27) at 9:30pm. As reported by Pedestrian.TV, fans were alerted to the famed UK producer teasing a trip to Australia through several cryptic Instagram stories over the last few weeks, including posting a photo of himself in a Zoom call holding a jar of Vegemite.
The speculation was then ramped up when Fred posted what appeared to be the wing of a Qantas flight, which was later confirmed when he shared a photo of himself and longtime touring partner Tony Friend on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. At the bottom of the story was a link to buy tickets to tonight’s performance – which, at the time of writing, had over 112,000 people in the queue for. “This show is genuinely super last minute,” Fred wrote in a follow-up story on his Instagram account. “The [Sydney Symphony] orchestra is rehearsing until 6pm! And this is their House, of course. We’re doing a real stripped version of the show, because we’ve only got two hours to build it. No lights, one small screen, me, Tony and maybe the most beautiful venue in the world.”
Fred again.. was last in Australia in early 2023, on his debut tour of Australia, where he performed at Laneway Festival as well as a handful of sold-out headlining shows. In a review of his show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, Music Feeds noted that while the show was “a well-oiled machine,” it also “never felt too rehearsed”. “Is there anything more satisfying than finally getting to dance to a pandemic anthem amid a large congregation of ecstatic bodies?” it read.
