‘Frozen’ Meets ‘Game Of Thrones’ In ‘Let It Go(T)’

If seeing beheadings, fire-breathing dragons, sword fights, a sadistic child king, lots of sex, and rather gruesome poisonings set to the sweet sounds of an Academy Award-winning Disney soundtrack cut is your thing, then Let it Go(T), a Game of ThronesFrozen mashup, is for you.

Singer Gail Folsom and co-writers Joanna Robinson and Dave Gonzales have used the mashup to rather skilfully dissect some of the incongruities and quirks of the smash hit HBO fantasy series. “Winter’s been coming for seasons“, sings a dramatic Folsom, “So why is it still green?

In addition to exploring some fan frustrations — “Who’s the hero on this show? / Tyrion? That new guy? Even book readers don’t know” — Folsom also takes a jab at US college students using their parents’ login details to watch the series for free using HBO Go, which has led to system crashes.

The mashup of Game of Thrones references and Let It Go from the Frozen soundtrack (written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and performed by Idina Menzel) is hardly the first time the worlds of GoT and music have collided, just check out the official Game of Thrones mixtape.
