G Flip Takes On ‘Lady Marmalade’ For Girl Power Like A Version, Announces Regional Tour

It’s safe to say that ever since Alex Lahey took her along for THAT Like a Version, we’ve all been keen for G Flip to have her own. Well, today, she’s has delivered the goods.

It’s a pre-International Women’s Day extraordinaire. Covering ‘Lady Marmalade’ — mostly the Christina Aguilera, Mýa, Lil’ Kim & Pink version — Georgia Flipo took along an all-star woman-cast too.

Jess B, Thandi Phoenix, Isabella Manfredi (The Preatures), Jess Kent, Alex The Astronaut, Rosie Fitzgerald (I Know Leopard), Clio Renner, Kate Richards, Bernice Tesara and Carla Dobbie joined her in the triple j studios.

It’s a really special Like a Version complete with a really cool drum solo.

On the Like a Version, G Flip says, “I’ve been making a shortlist of songs for years including the idea of playing ‘Lady Marmalade’ with a large band so when Triple J asked me to play Like A Version 2 days before International Women’s Day it felt right to pick Lady Marmalade and get some of my most boss women friends to join me.

“International Women’s Day is a day to bring together and celebrate women. My cover is a culmination of exactly that. It felt right to gather some of my very talented female buddies and smash out this song together.”

While she was there, she gave us a sneak peek of ‘Hyperfine’, an unreleased single.

She’s also announced a regional tour. Prior to her Splendour spot, G Flip will head to Darwin, Torquay, Castlemaine, Alice Springs, Newcastle, Cairns, and Woombye.
