The Ghost Inside’s Record Label Promises To Donate All Profits From The Band’s Album Sales To Fund Their Recovery

The Ghost Inside‘s record label, Epitaph, has announced plans to donate all profits from the band’s album sales to help pay their medical bills.

“Our hearts go out to our brothers in The Ghost Inside who have endured a catastrophic bus accident, with devastating injuries,” Epitaph CEO Brett Gurewitz wrote in a statement to fans.

“In light of this tragedy, Epitaph has decided to donate all profits from the sale of all The Ghost inside albums worldwide, directly to the band – indefinitely.”

“Epitaph won’t make a profit while the band silently fight to rebuild their lives,” he said.

The hardcore heroes were involved in a horror bus crash last month, which took the life of their driver and left all members of the band hospitalised with serious injuries.

They had been scheduled to tour Australia this month with The Amity Affliction as part of the Big Ass Tour, but were forced to cancel all those dates to focus on their recovery.

“It is going to be a long road for us to quite literally be back on our feet,” the band posted in a statement, from their hospital beds. “We have many months of recovery, rehabilitation, and physical therapy ahead. For some of us, simply learning to walk again will be a monumental undertaking. For now, we must put all shows on hold and focus only on our health.”

Speaking with Music Feeds this week, The Amity Affliction’s Joel Birch explained that, while fans have put in a top effort raising a buttload of money to help The Ghost Inside fund their medical expenses, there’s still a long way to go.

“Something people in Australia need to understand is that while they raised about a hundred and thirty thousand dollars – and that’s a lot of money – they’re looking at over a hundred thousand dollars of treatment each, just because of the US healthcare system and the way that it operates,” he said.

“So it’s not like over here where if we have had that accident that money would have covered our medical costs and also have gone to us living like post-crash and getting back up on our feet. That’s all going to go straight to the hospital.”

Fellow bands in the hardcore/metalcore scene have also chipped in to help The Ghost Inside pay their doctors’ bills, including Bring Me The Horizon and ARCHITECTS.

But, in light of Epitaph’s new pledge, CEO Brett Gurewitz reckons the best way for fans to help support The Ghost Inside now is by buying their music.
